So that's what you think. Well, I don't know what U.S. law says about this, but at least in Germany, you don't need a "legalizing contract" or whatsoever. If you create something, you hold the author's rights. I'm doubtful that this is not this way in the U.S. or elsewhere. If someone else uses your work without permission, you can sue him, regardless of any "legalizing contract".
Talking about S2Ext...
Just because everyone else got a version of it and is playing S2EXT doesn't mean you are free to distribute content of S2Ext, no matter if for free or for a fee. In Germany, the copyright holder still holds the copyrights so he might sue you if you don't ask for permission and/or claim the copyright holder's work was your work. The problem I have with your behaviour is not merely that you use S2Ext for yourself, but rather that you distribute this mod under your name and with your legal agreement. If you removed this legal agreement and gave appropriate credit, we could discuss at least about the use of my part of S2Ext.
Even if a mod is dead, you are not allowed to just add parts of it into your own work but rather have to ask for permission.
And no, I do not appreciate a guy who just copies and pastes the modifications of other people together (some without permission), doesn't do much work himself and then uploads it under a crude "license" claiming that if you want to use the models, you have to ask this strange guy for permission to do so.
From my point of view, this is not ok, and I personately do NOT respect such a person at all.
