CS2D General No one plays the game... At all DINOSOWER_ has written
What happened?
puberty happen my boy..
Anyway that is a hobby of Peter, recently he is more and more interested in a survival Stranded, although in business terms CS2D is much more relevant. Moreover, for the viability of all projects, perhaps it would be worth creating a group (team) which will develop Peter’s games and more.

I am just curious, is it new version that nobody plays or is it just time? I remember playing CS2D back in 2014 and it was an amazing experience with a lot of players. There was actually a huge fanbase. But now in serverlist i see only 2-3 servers with 5-10 players max, all other servers just empty or for other game versions (red id text). What happened?
Same. I actually started playing in Early 2014 when beta b.0.1.2.3 was still around, that's when i updated the version to b.0.1.2.4. I remember so many familiar people, so many friends even though i played without an USGN account because back then i did not know how to make one. I myself wish those times came back.

@ Pagyra: CS2D is at the end of its life cycle. I don't plan major re-designs in future.
Yes, still some old true competitive still play it. I also cannot just leave the game, i even still coding shit and keep making huge mods, but i cannot do much in all aspects due to the available hooks and others.
The game is still alive and DC is still developing it, even if slowly, but i like how last time he answered many suggestions and just in short period answered that those things will be added/changed/fixed. Surely, you cant make him to work on CS2D more than he wanna/can, but anyway as you can see developing is not stops.
By the graphical meaning and it's basic/code thingy - if there are so much of good coders and graphics designers - why dont you make your own cs2d with your own view? lol.
Right now is all in our hands.. Invite your friends, make teams/groups to develop something yours. CS2D has good modding capacity and as long as nobody gives a fck or being lazy to do everything above - the game will look like died.

What do you mean what happened? We are in 2019 and close to 2020. People don't tend to find playgrounds in server lists anymore. People want to see a change, a progression, a next level. And it is apparently not in CS2D. Nobody gets to know about this game's presence. What did you expect? What happened?

Not really, what is dying is the crazy custom (shitty) servers. People are playing and enjoying more the standard game mode, which is excellent. I have a WhatsApp group with ~50 old friends that still plays it, I made my forum again (CS2DBR) and people are joinning it, my server fills everyday 20/20 for hours, I'm running sucessful tournaments... at least for me, since the Steam release, the american community is living the best time, maybe not for europeans.
What I said was entirely unrelated to the active player count or the server situation. Even games which are super old and which didn't receive major updates (or any updates at all) for years can have a lot of active players.
Didnt know comp scene was still active, where do you communicate?
but looking at it another way, i see a lot of potential yes in cs2d, whether or not it is a spin-off of one of the biggest games of all time and nowadays, i believe that with a certain investment could give Sure, adding it to steam was a big step, more steps can be taken, but it's not up to me or us what the outcome of this game will be.

I miss the golden days of CS2D with a big and diverse server list. What got me hooked to the game in the beginning were nearly full CTF Construction servers (and the ones with unlimited buildings in later versions), so much chaos and fun!
I think there're many factors that lead to sinking player numbers. Now the biggest of them is probably smartphones and the actually idiotic mobile games. Not that they require only the IQ of a monkey to be played - many kids stick with tablets/smartphones instead computers. We, who played CS2D, are people of an old generation. I don't know what needs to happen for kids to love computers again at a young age.
I don't think CS2D is a lost cause, but it has just lost momentum. Forum members are still quite active, despite social networks etc. like reddit who are concentrating more and more people around them. It's like we don't play the game because it seems others don't either. But we would if we changed our thinking.
Or we simply matured. Who knows.
But, well, we all know how it went

All DC had to do is to advertise cs2d.net community when game got released on Steam, so that newbies could learn about competitive scene, make clans and start grinding.

You and your cs2d.net lol. Its been roughly the same people playing there for years.
I have not once done a significant modifications of various games (not only for CS2D). Many of them did not have to end in the release version for some reason, of course it's difficult and boring to do it is alone. So in same way the group will be contaminated by the continuation of the CS2D support. For many famous engines, there is a significant number of diverse patterns of close to the CS2D genre in free shared blueprints, so the recreation of the game on a new engine is not a problem, and can be done in a short time.
