Hello guys !

Well . . . . , i tried everything to increase my fps and i failed , i tried updating my driver and downloading DirectX and setting all the options on Lowest but there is no noticeable acceleration
in my fps
and yeah i did more and more ways for that but i got no good result like two more fps
so if yall want to know how many fps i am having , it is 12-20 fps yeah That's right with all of that i got only from 12 to 20 frames per sec so @user DC: can you make a lightweight version of CS2D for those ppl who are struggling with the performance ? , so you can use another Game Engine or disable any unnecessary operations or remove the unnecessary resources

My Greetings , Everybody

What are your PC specs? I can't just use another engine. It doesn't work like that. I would have to rewrite the whole thing which would take years. Also I'm already using something which is amongst the fastest options. It doesn't get much faster.

Using the launcher and trying all combinations of OpenGL / DirectX and windowed / fullscreen should probably have the highest impact. One of both, either OpenGL or DirectX is commonly much faster on systems which struggle with CS2D.

Another option is to entirely remove the SFX folder. You won't have any sounds but the game will load faster. This probably won't have any impact on your FPS though.

@user mrc: : Is your PC from the 90s?

No it is from the 2000s

@user DC: : What are your PC specs?

My device's specifications are from the beginning of the 2000s , specifically the following :
Processor : Intel R Pentium 4 (3.00 GHZ)
Ram : 2GB
Graphics Card : No Graphic Card
Mother Board : Old Mother Board by Gigabyte
Windows : 7

and Yeah i didn't update Windows 7 also the driver i am not sure if updating the windows will affect on the performance or not , about the driver updating i am having problems with it

i don't have any problem to wait for years for another lightweight version of CS2D

in reality , i did all of that and still having low fps and yeah i forgot to say that i play cs2d with no opened programs in the background

i have two questions on that response :
1) is removing the SFX folder will cause any error ?
2) can i remove the sounds that i don't need ?

Every computer has a video card, yours is probably an onboard one, and there is still a possibility that it does not have the drivers installed, which would cause a big loss of FPS. If you can tell me the model of your motherboard, maybe I can find the drivers for your video card.

Please type this in CMD:

1
wmic baseboard get product, manufacturer

It should return your motherboard, something like this:

Installing newer divers and Windows updates might indeed be a solution. If you're online with your system you should definitely run Window update. Not doing that is a significant security risk. Very bad idea.

Another solution would be to buy a cheap old GPU. You should be able to a get a good enough one for like 10$ on ebay.

...then I'm sorry to tell you that I don't have the time to work on that. If you pay me an insane amount of money I may consider to quit my job and work on that new version full time but I guess that won't happen

1) no, otherwise I would not have suggested it. CS2D just ignores it when sounds can't be loaded. All sounds are optional.
2) yes, you can selectively delete what you don't need and keep the rest
(again keep in mind: this most certainly won't affect your FPS. It won't solve your actual problem.)

Here is the model of my motherboard :

Manufacturer Product
Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. G41MT-S2PT

@user Marcell: Thank you Marcell

@user DC: Thanks DC for helping , i thought that updating the windows might slow down the pc
@user mrc: and also thank you mrc

You guys did great

Great, here is your Integrated Intel VGA Driver froum the Motherboard Support

https://download1.gigabyte.com/Files/Driver/mb_driver_vga_intel_vista_w7_64.exe?v=1f0ae92761a7a55aa058e4fe7131c7bd

If you have 32 Bit Windows 7, use this:

https://download1.gigabyte.com/Files/Driver/mb_driver_vga_intel_vista_w7_32.exe?v=2f1b736c187dc6727ed04cb582e9f18f

Do not forget to install DirectX too.

>> Try to get some "proper" GPU from your country to pair with your P4, something like a 8800 GT or a cheaper 8600 GT

Try installing this, assuming you are using Windows 7 x64: https://download1.gigabyte.com/Files/Driver/mb_driver_vga_intel_vista_w7_64.exe?v=1f0ae92761a7a55aa058e4fe7131c7bd

Don't forget to restart your computer after installation.

Ok , so . . . . After doing that operation is my motherboard going to be updated ?
so i need to update my driver too ? , or it is already updated ?

Also there is a program that is called "Intel-Driver-and-Support-Assistant-Installer" , should i
install it ?

Also there is another problem in drivers updating , . . . i dont know how can i explain it but i will try my best , so when i searched about "update device drivers" in the search bar to update my drivers i got something that is called "other devices" inside of it there is a device that is called "unknown device" so when i tried to scan for hardware changes of the unknown device i got a message that says "device driver hardware was not successfully installed" i dont really know how to fix it and also i dont know if it affects on the performance of my pc or not

and i forgot to say that my system type is 64x (64 bit)

Your motherboard is not going to be updated, your graphics driver will.

You don't need any of these, simply extract run the exe. It will extract it to a path (note it somewhere), open that folder and run the setup.exe

@user blurr: There are probably other things on your computer besides the VGA that are not installed, but in your case, installing what we recommend will probably improve your FPS.

- First of all I recommend to install all the updates (or simply just make a clean install with the lastest windows 7 service pack). Then disable aero theme and another visual effects to increase pc performance.
- Install the intel gpu drivers like everyone said in this thread: https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-G41MT-S2PT-rev-21 . The motherboard uses Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X4500 , alternatively just search for modded drivers which will increase performance. I used to have a old crap pc with intel gma 4500m and using RoyalBNA drivers would make a huge difference.
- Run CS2D with high priority, theres a example of my config with a custom .bat launcher: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Pfcs_QeJiCCRlfaW_DHmXf1LZNfyoB1Q/
- For the settings use everything as low as possible and try to use a 4:3 resolution (scalled to 16:9). If you don't know what to tweak you can pick my config (is the best for boosting fps). Also use adicional launch options such as 16bit for example.

I'm here to state the obvious.

You need a new computer.

But most people would argue that I'm not helping by saying that.

So here's a couple tips on how you might be able to do that with a tight budget:

1. You could go to the local garbage collection centre or technology recycling centre and find a better computer for (usually) free.
2. You could ask your friends or relatives for unused computer parts (or computers) that you may be able to make use of.
3. You could save up money to buy a used computer with better specifications.
4. You could claim a government computer for "learning" if you appeal as such to your governing sector for education.
5. You could get a job for a month and use your pay check to buy a computer.

Whichever way you choose, whether it's something I said or not, your current computer won't do.
There's no point in running in circles trying to squeeze that one extra frame for CS2D, it won't happen, and if it will, it won't be worth it.

Chances are you'll end up bricking what you currently have trying to make it go "faster".

Get a new computer, that's the sad reality, you can't make your computer magically faster by installing random software on the internet.

* I am assuming that he already has the proper drivers installed, nobody here really checked and people just give him executables to run without verifying that those are the drivers he needs. I am aware that lack of drivers could hurt performance. As for Windows Update, those usually hurt performance to install (on old computers), and are not very useful (on outdated operating systems).

I don't understand why people are bothering to tell you random solutions here. There is simply no solution other than hardware change. Either upgrade your computer hardware, buy a new computer, or just leave it because no matter what you do to your current device, it will not be able to run CS2D at a decent FPS.

Hypothetically speaking, a lightweight of CS2D wouldn't help either.
