Topic: Yep, you can use MS.Paint, but it would be better if it's in Windows 7. You if don't have Windows 7, use a different program.

I sketch all my starting sprites in MS Paint, then I bring the outline into Paint.Net to use with layers and blending modes to create sprites like these:

file cs2d Halo Red VS Blue Spartans player skins
file cs2d M1895 Nagant suppressable Russian Revolver gfx+sfx
file cs2d M14 rifle total conversion (gfx+sfx realism)
file cs2d M1 (T20E2) Garand for g3sg1 [gfx+sfx]

Here's a tip: Never upload untextured crap to the fileshare because it will end up being completely ignored, and/or generally made fun of.
